Therapy for Anxiety

At Moving Forward Staying Present, we offer anxiety therapy in Portland, Oregon for people navigating overwhelm, stress, panic, overthinking, and nervous system activation. We also have specific training in OCD based anxiety.

Anxiety can take up space in your body, your thoughts, your relationships, and your sense of possibility. It may show up as racing thoughts, difficulty sleeping, tightness in your chest, overthinking conversations, preparing for every possible outcome, or feeling like your insides are moving faster than the world around you. While anxiety can be with us throughout life, it can sometimes become unmanageable without support and skill development.

How Therapy Helps

Therapy for anxiety gives you a steady space to slow down, understand what your anxiety is trying to protect, and build more choice in how you respond. Together, you and your therapist may explore the stories, experiences, relationships, and body-based patterns that shape your anxiety.

This work can help you understand triggers for anxiety, reduce shame around anxious responses, build tools for calming your nervous system, and create more space between thought and reaction.

Our Approach

Our therapists may draw from CBT, mindfulness, ACT, ERP, Sensory-motor, Self-Compassion Training, somatic awareness, trauma-informed therapy, narrative therapy, and DBT-informed regulation skills. The work is collaborative and grounded in what you need: insight, practical tools, emotional processing, nervous system support, or some combination of these.

Our therapy office is located in the Sellwood neighborhood of SE Portland. We also offer telehealth across Oregon.

If this sounds like the kind of support you’re looking for, schedule a consult and we’ll help connect you with the right anxiety therapist.
