Healing comes in many forms. With a dual background in psychology and yoga  I will work with you to discover the ways in which you best can accomplish your goals. My approach to therapy combines the holistic and body oriented stances of Eastern Philosophies and Mindfulness Practices with current incarnations of Attachment and Systems oriented therapies. I am relationally and depth oriented. I work best with clients who are ready to do deep work and make real changes in their life. As a yoga teacher, I guide students to move slowly and with awareness of their bodies, while tending to their mind and emotions. In both my therapy sessions and yoga classes, working with the nervous system is of paramount importance. Maria is not accepting new clients.

I love working with clients to help them discover their strengths, goals, and ways to work towards creating a greater sense of wellbeing.  My approach is genuine, direct, and warm and I utilize modalities including CBT, DBT, emotion-focused and attachment-based therapies.

I will strive to have your therapy sessions be a place to deepen your understanding of both personal identity and environment to more fully recognize areas you’d like to change, accept or grow. My goal is to highlight how social, cultural  and environmental factors participate in your overall well-being and mental health. I come to therapeutic work as a Clinical Social Worker and I believe that everyone can work to realize their own idea of mental wellness and optimal mental health. I prioritize building a connected therapeutic relationship. I am currently accepting new clients.

The therapeutic process is a unique path for everyone, and it's my joy to meet you where you're  at and walk alongside you as you seek growth and healing.  I will create a safe, non-judgmental space for you to work toward your therapeutic goals. I will tailor my approach to our work together by utilizing a variety of modalities in a way that is honoring to you and what you most desire to accomplish in therapy.

I believe that everyone has the ability & capacity to  build a life that's worth living. The development of self acceptance & balance is key. We might be a good fit if you’re looking for therapy around: depression, anxiety, PTSD, life transition, career trauma, or couples/ marriage counseling. I have a multidisciplinary approach in therapy that includes Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), Mindfulness based interventions, Narrative therapy, Attachment theory based interventions, and Trauma informed care.

My therapeutic approach integrates the different components of who clients are as an individual, as well as addressing any outside influences affecting who they are as a whole. It is important to me to meet my clients "where they are at, and as who they are." What I mean by this is that I strongly value being responsive to various cultures, associations, intersectionalities, and intergenerational traditions and traumas as these can all impact our mental well-being and healing.

Covid 19 Update:  You have the option to receive counseling through a secure online portal or via the telephone. All clinicians offer Telehealth services in Oregon, and Maria offers telehealth in both Oregon and Washington. We are continually amazed at how effective and satisfying these sessions are.  Telehealth sessions are the same price as regular therapy sessions and Telehealth sessions are covered by most insurance plans. We are slowly welcoming back in person clients (wearing masks) as more people are vaccinated.

Maria's Yoga Classes

Yoga Workshops with Maria

October 23rd, 2022- Yoga of Self-Esteem - 3:30-6:30pm
Did you know that yoga also can be an important tool used to increase our self-esteem? Yoga is tremendously helpful in so many ways as it works its magic to quiet the mind, soothe the nervous system, and support our physical health. Join me to explore how yoga philosophy and yoga practice address the problem of low self-esteem.
For so many people, thinking poorly of themselves underlies their anxiety, depression, difficulty in making decisions, and struggles in relationships. Self-esteem is something that can be worked on, it can be healed and yoga is particularly good at addressing this important piece of the puzzle. Let's spend three hours together exploring yogic thought, breathwork, and movement as well as interesting perspectives from modern psychology, and see if we can create some real change in how we all feel about ourselves.
This will be a powerful workshop that can be done in the studio or live streamed from the comfort of your own home. The workshop will be recorded so if you can't attend in real-time, we'll send you the recording. All are warmly welcomed, so please register here if you would like to join. I hope to see you!

December 18th, 2022- Chakra Practice - 4:30-6:30pm
In this workshop, we will move through a slower, deep, 2-hour yoga practice all about the Chakras.
We'll start at the root and move up to the crown of the head for a full-body, physical, and energetic experience! The Chakras are rich in symbolism and are doorways to physical change, shifts in awareness, and insight.
I have been teaching workshops about the Chakras for 12 years, so I bring a rich, deep, and interesting look into this particularly intriguing piece of the yogic way of understanding ourselves. This will be a wonderful and informative workshop that can be done in the studio or live streamed from the comfort of your own home.
The workshop will also be recorded so if you can't attend in real time, we'll send you the recording. Please register here. I hope to see you there!
