Therapeutic yoga at Moving Forward Staying Present is a type of yoga specifically designed to promote your mental health and well-being. It combines the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of yoga to help participants reduce stress, improve mood, and increase self-awareness.

Yoga for Stress and Anxiety

A six week series beginning Weds May 8th, from 4-5 pm

Join Maria Williquette, LMFT, ERYT-500 for this this deep and engaging exploration of stress and anxiety: how it functions in our bodies and what to do to decrease it. Maria has been a practicing Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2012 and a yoga teacher since 2007.

She has found that combining the wisdom of yoga with the tools and understanding from psychology is a rich and powerful well to draw from. Participants in this series will significantly increase their understanding of stress and anxiety (how it happens, why it happens, and what the biological and cognitive processes that create and maintain anxiety are); as well as experiencing in real time practices that calm the nervous system and decrease the symptoms of stress and anxiety.

Maria is a practicing Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist has been teaching yoga workshops about stress and anxiety since 2010 and is passionate about creating space for people to be able to find their way back to their more solid and grounded selves.

You can attend in person at Sellwood Yoga, via livestream, or I am happy to share the recording with you if you can't make it at that time.

Maria has been leading deep, introspective, community building yoga retreats since 2010.


In November of 2024, Maria will be leading a retreat at beautiful Guemes Island Resort in the magical San Juan Islands north of Seattle. The retreat, November 7 - 11, includes 4 nights lodging, long yoga practices daily (4 days), big community meals and catered lunches, and ample time to walk along the quiet beach or relax in the sauna.
