Erin CarknerLicensed Clinical Social Worker, #L7954

I was born and raised in Oregon, and as any good Pacific Northwesterner does, I love being outside, especially in the forest. Hiking, biking, reading, watching good shows, and spending time with loved ones are some of my favorite pastimes. I also love animals and will stop to pet just about any dog or cat I pass by.
One of my greatest joys is walking alongside people as they choose to take steps toward healing and growth. My goal is to create a safe, warm, and non-judgmental environment for you or your loved one to experience support, encouragement, and a greater sense of wholeness and health. We will work collaboratively to achieve what you most desire to accomplish in therapy.
Whether you come with chronic mental health struggles or you've just began to notice something isn't right, I will meet you right where you are at and we will move forward at your pace. It is my firm belief that we are composed of many parts and that you are not defined by the mental health challenges you experience. You are an invaluable part of this world and I look forward to getting to know you as we explore and take steps together. I engage in a variety of approaches and modalities such as CBT( Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy, Attachment Based Theories, and Mindfulness Based Approaches. I will tailor our work in a way that is most honoring to you and your therapeutic goals.
I've been a mental health therapist for eight years, and my background includes working with adults, teens, and families in a community mental health setting as well as in private practice. My background also includes serving refugee and immigrant communities in Portland. I identify as a white, cis-gendered female, and continue to intentionally engage in learning about how best to support and honor BIPOC and LGBTQ individuals in our community and world.
We might be a good fit if you are experiencing any of the following:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Trauma related issues
- Body Image issues
- Identity development
- Relationship issues
- Chronic stressors
- Family dynamic issues
- Life transitions
